FAR/AIM Live

Live updates to FAA regulations as they take effect.

Follow a rule from proposal to final text. See which sections change and when. Downloaded amendments apply automatically on their effective dates. Look up FAA airworthiness directives by AD number or equipment model.

Coming to the App Store. Every feature will be free at launch. About $10 for new downloads soon afterward. No subscription.

Rule Changes

Read proposed rules, see which sections would change, and find the comment deadline and a link to submit comments. Proposals are shown separately from the rules in force.

Open an Amendment Diff to compare a final rule with your current text. Tap an amendment’s summary to read the affected section. You can also browse past changes going back to 2017.

Settings shows the next effective date and whether the amendment is ready. When a rule has several effective dates, the downloaded amendments apply on their respective dates.

Airworthiness Directives

Search FAA airworthiness directives by AD number, aircraft, engine, propeller or component. The Airworthiness Directives screen suggests numbers and aircraft and engine models as you type.

Each result links to the Federal Register publication with its applicability and compliance requirements. The screen also links to the FAA’s AD search, subscriptions and emergency AD information.

Search the regulations, AIM, Pilot/Controller Glossary and Rule Changes from one field. Try 91.155(b), AIM 6-4-1, a Federal Register citation or a phrase such as “lost comms.” Text results open at the matching paragraph.

The reference library and Rule Changes work offline. When connected, press Search with All selected to include live AD results from the Federal Register.

Quick Reference

Tap to hear the phonetic alphabet, aviation numbers and radio examples. Check tower light signals or decode a METAR, SPECI or TAF into plain English.

Look up airport weather from NOAA by ICAO identifier. Airport Lookup also opens FAA Chart Supplement results and links to the FAA’s NOTAM and temporary flight restriction tools.

Highlights, Notes and Bookmarks

Mark passages, add notes and organize bookmarks into folders. If an update rewrites or removes a passage, its notes are kept for your review.

Saved items sync through your own iCloud account. No app account, analytics or tracking. See the privacy policy for the connections the app makes.
